In a significant initiative to support underprivileged students, Shushilan, with funding from Human Concern International (HCI) under the Child Sponsorship Program (CSP), distributed winter clothes, blankets, and sewing machines in the remote char areas of the Jamuna River, Tangail.
A distribution event was held at Shushua Asatunnesa Dakhil Madrasa, where 89 underprivileged students received jackets and blankets to help them endure the winter season. Additionally, 8 students from extremely poor families were provided with sewing machines to promote self-reliance and livelihood opportunities.
The event took place on Tuesday, December 31, at 11:00 AM, under the supervision of Shushilan’s Deputy Director, Mustafa Bakuluzzaman.
Throughout the year, with the support of HCI, the program conducted awareness sessions focusing on health, prevention of child marriage, safe water access, and gender equality. These sessions involved students, parents, local imams, and community leaders.
As part of the initiative, students at the madrasa received educational materials, Eid clothing and food packages, sports equipment, midday meals, and sanitary napkins. A free medical camp was also organized, providing medical consultations and distributing medicines through specialist doctors.
Prominent attendees at the event included Md. Ariful Islam, Shushilan representative; Abdul Bari, Superintendent of Asatunnesa Dakhil Madrasa; Md. Mominur Rahman, President of Shushua Welfare Association; Ruma Khatun, Field Facilitator; and Rashida Begum, Volunteer.
This initiative highlights the ongoing efforts of Shushilan and HCI to enhance the quality of life and educational opportunities for students of Asatunnesa Dakhil Madrasa and vulnerable children in remote char communities.
